MDEQ Grants Available for Inland Beach Water Quality Monitoring

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), Water Resources Division, is announcing $200,000 in grants available for inland beach water quality monitoring projects in fiscal years 2019 and 2020. Projects will be funded from the Clean Michigan Initiative-Clean Water Fund. Local government and nonprofit entities are eligible for funding and are encouraged to apply either individually or as part of a group. Applicants that receive funding will be required to share the resulting data with the MDEQ.

“During the past 20 years, the Clean Michigan Initiative has funded more than $2 million in projects that have protected Michigan’s beaches,” said Teresa Seidel, Water Resources Division Director. “We look forward to funding this year’s final group of CMI projects and remain committed to finding new and innovative ways to protect and improve Michigan’s beaches in the years to come.”  

The Request for Proposals (RFP) are available online at www.michigan.gov/waterquality. The RFP contains detailed instructions on developing a proposal, the criteria by which proposals will be evaluated, and the items that should be included with your application. Proposals are due by March 12, 2019.
