Cub Scout Winterfest
Protect Our Waters
On Saturday February 17, 2018 LGROW was represented at the Boy Scouts of America ‘Winterfest’ in Walker. LGROW Graduate Assistant Carlos Calderon and Intern Alyson Mabie, were on hand providing watershed education for Cub Scouts and their families from across West Michigan. Scouts learned the importance of watershed stewardship, identified the watershed in which they reside, and learned about what lives in their local streams, rivers and lakes. West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) lent their Enviroscape model for this event which is an education tool that demonstrates how human activities and land-use impact our watershed. Scouts also were able to get a glimpse of several important creatures that dwell in Indian Mill Creek, which runs through the Devos Family Center for Scouting grounds, where the event was held.
