Actions for Rivers

Many know the sang “April showers bring May flowers” but have you head the sang “April splash brings May trash”. Streams and rivers tend to be the dumping grounds for winter garbage. Debris is carried to waterbodies during snow melts and rain events during the spring season.

May is the perfect month for action when it comes to cleaning up streams. April doesn’t need to be the only month for environmental efforts. Let’s not forget every day is Earth Day. One easy way to act is by hosting or participating in stream and river cleanups. Cleanups can be robust with many volunteers or something as simple as a few people picking up garbage on a river walk.
