All are cordially invited to Kent Conservation District's Annual Showcase and Dinner on Wednesday, March 18th, 6 pm at the Kent Career Technical Center. The Showcase presentation, Farm Stories 2020, will bring attention to resident agricultural producers, how they are overcoming the many challenges of today while protecting the land we need for continuing prosperity tomorrow.
The program will be followed by a special announcement on how Kent Innovative students are helping the invasive species strike team prioritize invasive species treatments.
The showcase will also help landowners learn more about the many resources available to Kent Conservation District residents. Landowners can take advantage of funding for conservation practices to protect waterways through shelter belts and pollinator habitat. These services include the NRCS administered Farm Bill that offers easement programs to eligible landowners to conserve working agricultural lands, wetlands, grasslands and forestlands, the Forestry Assistance Program, and the Conservation Technical Assistance Initiative. By the end of the event you will be able to better describe what a conservation district is. Many are just not sure what a Conservation District does District staff wants to remedy that and plan to be on hand to answer questions and educate our residents on what services we do provide.
